Camilo Pardo

Born in New York, Camilo moved to Michigan as at the age of 10 and had by that age developed a fascination with 60s and 70s era sports cars, modern art, and design. After graduating from Detroit’s prestigious design school Center for Creative Studies in 1985, Camilo was hired immediately by Ford Motor Co.  Included among his design assignments have been special projects for Ford of Europe in Italy and Germany, and for the Advanced Studios in Dearborn. After 15 years at Ford Motor Company, he took on what was for him the ultimate assignment… a state of the art re-design of the classic Ford GT race car. This project lead to being given the responsibility of design chief of Ford’s SVT and Living Legends Design Studio.  The Ford GT became an instant success capturing the interest of car enthusiasts around the world. Camilo worked at Ford Design from 1985 t0 2009. He was also an instructor of Design at Collage of Creative Studies, from 1986 to 1994.

During his career at Ford, Camilo continued to explore  additional avenues of art & design.  With the integration of Design principles and the abstractions of Fine Art, Camilo explores alternative design solutions.  This work is created in his studio, located in the city of Detroit. His studio has been the scene of more than a few Detroit's openings and receptions.  He has been hosting for the last twelve years the globally known event, Designers” Night, which is attended by top automotive personnel and designers from all over the world. Last year the NAIAS decided to include Designer’s Night as a recognized NAIAS event appearing in all NAIAS publications.

By evening, Camilo is a serious, multi-faceted artist with incomparable creative energy.  His creativity is evident in his large, brightly colored oil paintings on canvases and striking metallic sculptures. The same quality of creativity reaches a line of fashion design that he describes as conceptual  fashion, which have been acclaimed in international fashion shows.  His fine art and scultural-functional furniture have been displayed in major cities across the country and overseas.   As a dedicated artist who sets no limits on his creative endeavors, Camilo has found that his outside artistic expressions only further strengthen and complement his passion for automotive design.
